Premier League Gameweek 24 Preview

The Premier League title race took a turn last weekend & the race to be crowned champions continues this weekend..

League leaders Arsenal were stunned by Man Utd on Sunday and Areta’s men have the opportunity to bounce back against Leeds.

Daniel Farke’s side have lost just 1 of their last 10 (W3 D6 L1), however & can remain competitive at least.

ARSENAL & UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 13/5

At 5:30 on Saturday, Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were 5-1 winners in the reverse fixture back in August.

Although the Hammers made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when beating Sunderland last Saturday it’s difficult to see any outcome other than a home win.

At 8pm on Saturday, Liverpool host Newcastle.

The Reds were rampant in scoring 6 against Qarabag in the Champions League midweek, however- Arne Slots side are winless in 5 in the Premier League (D4 L1).

Kick off proceedings on Sunday, Manchester United take on Fulham.

The Red Devils have won both games since appointing Michael Carrick as interim manager. Visitors Fulham are unbeaten in 8 (W5 D2).

The Cottagers don’t boast a positive record on their trips to Old Trafford, winning just 2 of their previous 20 visits to the Theatre of Dreams.

MAN UTD @ 4/7

At 4:30 on Sunday, Spurs face Manchester City.

Both sides booked their spots in the Champions League last-16 during the week.

Having been rested against Wolves, Erling Haaland returned to scoring ways on Wednesday. The Norwegian will be relishing the prospect of facing a Tottenham defence which has conceded 31 goals in the Premier League this season.

The Premier League action continues this weekend..

The proceedings get underway at the London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime as West Ham host Sunderland.

The Hammers snapped a 10-game win-less run with victory over Spurs last Saturday courtesy of Callum Wilson’s stoppage time strike.

The Black Cats are without a win in any of their last 5 away from home (D3 L2).

DRAW @ 11/5

At 3pm on Saturday, out-of-sorts Man City take on a Wolves side who are enjoying a mini-revival.

Rob Edwards’ side have avoided defeat in their last 5.

Defeat in the Manchester derby was followed by defeat in Norway to Bodo / Glimt in the Champions League & Pep Guardiola will be looking for a strong response.

City have won 9 of their last 10 meetings with Wolves inc. a 4-0 win in the reverse fixture at Molineux in August.

MAN CITY - MAN CITY (HT/FT) @ 8/11

The Reds made it 13 games without defeat when dispatching Marseille in the Champions League.

Both teams have netted in each of Bournemouth’s last 8 games & the Cherries ought to at least get on the scoreboard.

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 8/15

On Sunday, Newcastle & Aston Villa renew rivalries.

The Magpies are unbeaten in their last 8 on home soil (W6 D2).

Villa were shocked by Everton last week but bounced back to overcome Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night.

OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 4/6

The standout tie on Sunday is undoubtedly Arsenal v Man Utd.

The Red Devils began life under Michael Carrick in resounding fashion as they claimed a much deserved victory in the Manchester Derby.

The Gunners look likely to pose a much sterner test, however. Mikel Arteta’s side are enjoying a 12-game unbeaten run (W10 D2)

Premier League Gameweek 22 Preview

After a brief hiatus for the F.A. Cup 3rd round, the Premier League returns this weekend..

The gameweek kicks-off on Saturday lunchtime with the small matter of a Manchester Derby as Man Utd welcome rivals Man City to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils parted company with boss Ruben Amorim last week & failed to see an uptake in form under caretaker boss Darren Fletcher.

A 2-2 draw with Burnley followed by an F.A Cup defeat at home to Brighton.

Pep’s men, meanwhile, battered League 1 Exeter 10-1 at the weekend before a commanding 2-0 win against Newcastle in the League Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night.

MAN CITY @ 19/20

At 3 o’clock on Saturday, out of sorts Spurs welcome an equally woeful West Ham.

Thomas Frank’s side have managed just 2 league wins in their last 10 (W2 D3 L5) while the Hammers are win-less in that same period (D4 L6).

DRAW @ 3/1

Lastly on Saturday, Nottingham Forest take on leaders Arsenal.

A Martin Zubimendi brace helped the Gunners to a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture back in September & another straightforward success looks likely for Arteta’s side.

Sean Dyche has a poor record when managing against Arsenal (P20 W2 D4 L14).

Kicking things off on Sunday, Wolves host Newcastle at Molineux.

Rob Edwards’ side are in unprecedented territory having gone 4 games without defeat.

Jorgen Strand Larsen notched a hat-trick against Shrewsbury in the F.A. Cup last Saturday.

The Norweigan could be afforded chances against a Newcastle side without a clean sheet in their last 7 away games in the Premier League.

Also on Sunday afternoon, Aston Villa entertain Everton.

The Toffees, despite firing a rare penalty shoot-out blank against Sunderland last weekend, have remained competitive in almost all of their outings, averaging 1.10 goals p/g in the Premier League this season.

Last but not least, South-coast pair Brighton & Bournemouth go head-to-head on Monday night.

The Cherries snapped an 11-game win-less streak courtesy of Antoine Semenyo’s stoppage time strike v. Spurs. The Ghanian winger has since departed for Manchester City, however.

The Seagulls have lost just once at the Amex this season (P10 W5 D4 L1).

Who will be the next Manchester United manager...

Monday morning saw the shock news of Manchester United parting company with manager Ruben Amorim.

We take a look at who could replace the outgoing Portuguese boss:

Enzo Maresca 5/1

The Italian guided Leicester City to the Championship title in 2023/24 & helped Chelsea to Europa Conference title before adding the Club World Cup to his C.V. in July last year.

A difference in opinion with the Chelsea hierarchy saw his tenure unceremoniously cut short & it would be no surprise to see him quickly get back on the horse if Manchester United were to come calling..

Darren Fletcher 8/1

It is expected that the former Man Utd midfielder will take interim control until a successor is appointed.

With a fixture against struggling Burnley coming up this week, an FA Cup encounter at home to Brighton followed by the Manchester Derby it’s not at all unimaginable to see him doing enough to secure the position on a permanent basis..

Oliver Glasner 1/1

The Crystal Palace boss has been very vocal on his disappointment in a lack of investment at the South London club.

The German was appointed in February 2024 after winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.

He has brought success with him landing the F.A. Cup last year before downing Liverpool in the Community Shield back in August..

Gareth Southgate 7/1

After more than 100 games & 2 Euro runners-up medals, the former Three Lions boss arguably looks the most obvious candidate for the vacancy with strong ties to INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Southgate has formerly managed at club level with Middlesbrough.

Xavi Hernandez 14/1

The former top class midfielder stepped straight into management following retirement in 2019 with Qatari outfit Al-Sadd before landing the role as Barcelona head coach in 2021.

The Spaniard took his boyhood club to the La Liga title in 2022-23 before leaving the role in May 2024.

Andoni Iraola 16/1

Having arrived at Bournemouth as a relative unknown, Iraola has earned plenty of plaudits for his work on the South-coast.

However, with his contract set to expire in the Summer it might be the right time to take the leap up the ladder..

Kieran Mckenna 16/1

The former United backroom coach has made a seamless transition into management with Ipswich Town securing back-to-back promotions for the Tractor Boys from League 1 into the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim was heavily criticised for his stubbornness in not wanting to move away from his preferred formation.

That’s not something which can be said of McKenna who has proven to be adaptable & progressive..

Others to consider inc. former players Michael Carrick (12/1), Laurent Blanc (33/1), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (9/4), & Ruud Van Nistelrooy (33/1)..

The 2026 Premier League fixtures failed to ignite on Thursday with 3 of Thursday’s 4 ties ending goal-less..

Moving quickly on, Aston Villa take on Nottingham Forest this Saturday lunchtime (12:30 KO).

Villa’s winning sequence came to a spectacular end with a humbling 4-1 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Visitors Forest are in no great shape themselves, mind.

Sean Dyche’s men have lost their last 3 in quick succession scoring just once.

ASTON VILLA & UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 7/4

Later on at 5:30 on Saturday evening, Arsenal make the journey to the South-coast to face Bournemouth.

The Cherries did the double over Arsenal in the Premier League last season but Iraola’s side are dreadfully out of shape at this moment in time with 0 wins from any of their last 10 (D5 L5).

Leandro Trossard has been preferred to Eberechi Eze recently & the Belgian rewarded Mikel Arteta selection with a goal and an assist against Aston Villa during the week.
